The program begins the first Saturday of June and runs 8 days until the next Sunday
morning.
Arrival
You arrive Friday evening or Saturday morning. Settle into camp, make yourself comfortable and get to know one another. Relax. Begin at noon.
Day 1
We begin by each of us introducing ourselves, our backgrounds, what we would like to get from the program. Instructor explains the outline of the coming week, expectations, activities, and assessment for those interested in future employment.

Everything horse related including training for trail horses, riding, packing methods, packing up, hitches and knots. You will learn the standard diamond, the one man diamond and the double diamond hitches, riding, wrangling, horse care, trail tips and safety.
You will be assigned you own horse on the first day. Your fee includes the RENTAL(SELF-GUIDED) of your horse and you are free to ride when and where you choose during free time.
Day 2 and 3
Everything horse related including training for trail horses,
riding, packing methods, packing up, hitches and knots. You will learn the standard diamond, the one man diamond and the double diamond hitches, riding, wrangling, horse care, trail tips and safety.
Day 4
Everything Camp related including choosing camp sites, camp life, camp tools, knives, tents, and gear.
Backpacking, including pack types, foot gear, clothing, relatedgear, and camouflage.
Day 5
Firearms. Types, components, caliber, bullets and loads, optics, accuracy, safety, shotguns, shot and loads. Shooting rifles. Shooting skeet.
Day 6
Dog packing. GPS use. Other electronics. Archery
Day 7
Animal Study including Big game, waterfowl and upland( habits, hunting methods, calling, bear safety, etc.)
Day 8
Meat care and skinning. Skinning bears - head, paws, preparing hide (optional - not necessary for those not planning to be guides).
What the guiding industry has to offer for jobs. A look at recreation/tourism, fishing and hunting. List of potential employers for those interested. Suggestions for resume and follow up for employment. Evaluation for those planning to seek future employment. Blue Creek Guides Program Certificate.
